Curved Bone

This scapulo-coracoid from a large pterosaur is typical of a complete curved bone.  Such bones are distinctive of pterosaurs and this particular bone forms the bulk of the pectoral girdle. It articulates with the notarium (a fused region of the backbone) and the sternum.  The articular facet at the centre of the curve is the glenoid, the articular surface where the humerus fits.

Frequently, where sediments are mobile, the bone will break at its weakest point (the glenoid) and be found in two parts.
